As a casual cyclist myself and my colleague trained for and completed the Galway to Dublin cycle in 2016. I work as a Respiratory Nurse specialist and I am inspired on a daily basis by the patients that attend our Pulmonary Rehabilitation programme despite their level of symptoms. so I feel that I can get breathless for this really worthy cause and create awareness.
After the success of the “Get Breathless for COPD” Cycle in June
2017 which raised over €20,000, A. Menarini Ireland, in association
with COPD Support Ireland, is once again calling on cyclists of all
abilities to join them on a unique non-competitive one-day cycle
ride from Bray to Howth Head. This cycle aims to raise funds, and
public awareness, for those suffering from COPD in Ireland.
The cycle will take place on Saturday, May 12th and there will be
both a 50km and 100km route available. The shorter 50km cycle
takes places on the same day, and shares its route with the 100km.
Participants must pay €50 (including 9% VAT) to enter the cycle and then raise a minimum of €100 for COPD Ireland. Get Breathless for COPD includes: Premium “Get Breathless for COPD” jersey, Professional cycle guides on bikes at 1:10 ratio (guides to participants), Support vehicles with professional mechanics and first AID medics, Snacks, lunch and hydration, BBQ, and refreshments at the finish line
