On 3rd February 2019, my fabulous niece Sadhbh Murphy was born in Holles Street. That evening, Sadhbh was transferred to Crumlin hospital as she required surgery for duodenal atresia. The next day, my sister Maria left Holles Street and contacted the Ronald McDonald house looking for a place for herself and her husband Padraig, where they were told they could move in that evening. For just over the next three weeks, whilst Sadhbh was in Crumlin, the Ronald McDonald house became their home and allowed them to focus all of their attention on Sadhbh.
On the 25th of April, I'm doing a 60 km cycle (with Maria!) around Blessington Lakes to help fund-raise money to keep parents close to their sick children.
60k In May!! Due to public demand we've decided to extend our cycle until the end of May 2020.
Our sole focus is to keep our House open and keep our families close to their sick child at Crumlin Children’s Hospital. We cannot do this without the help of the Irish public.
This newly formatted cycle will provide vital funding for the House as we continue to care for families who have no choice but to be by their child's hospital bedside. We truly are all in this together so we’re asking you to stay healthy & fit during this time by challenging you to cycle for us. Cycle 60km during the months of April & May, in your own area and when suits you to help us continue to care for our families at this unique time.
It costs us €60.00 per night per family, and by registering you will be providing a family a home for the night when they need it the most.
